At first, they noticed an unbearable smell.
Not the usual scent of mold or rotting wood common in older homes. This odor was far worse — thick, sour, and impossible to ignore. One worker reportedly stepped back immediately, convinced something had died inside the attic walls.
According to neighbors, the noises had occasionally been heard at night for months, but most assumed raccoons or squirrels had nested in the roof. No one expected what the contractors were actually about to uncover.
As sections of plywood were removed, the workers discovered a hidden cavity running deeper than the original blueprints suggested. Inside was a dark, sealed-off space apparently concealed for years beneath multiple layers of renovation work.
