Industry officials and energy analysts warn that disruptions to oil and refined fuel flows from the Middle East—particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes—have significantly reduced the availability of jet fuel, a refined product critical to airline operations.

A tightening supply chain

Europe imports a large share of its jet fuel from the Gulf region, making it especially vulnerable to supply shocks. With the conflict disrupting shipping routes and refining output, deliveries have slowed and competition for alternative sources has intensified.

According to energy experts, jet fuel markets are under far greater stress than crude oil markets because refined products are harder to reroute or replace quickly. Some analysts warn that Europe may only have several weeks of accessible supply under current conditions, depending on how long disruptions persist
