According to the woman, tensions with her mother-in-law had existed for years, mostly surrounding finances and household decisions. Although she and her husband both contributed to their home, she claims her mother-in-law repeatedly dismissed her role in the marriage.

Things reportedly exploded during a family visit when the woman showed her mother-in-law a white dress she had recently purchased for an upcoming event.
