Phillip Herron: Inside a single dad’s tragic end

With bills piling up and the threat of eviction looming, Herron’s financial crisis deepened. At the time of his death, he reportedly had just £4.61 left in his bank account. The weight of responsibility—caring for his children while struggling to survive financially—became overwhelming.

In March 2019, Herron took his own life.

Shortly before his death, he posted a photo of himself in tears, alongside a note suggesting he believed his family would be “better off without him.”  The message shocked those who knew him, many of whom were unaware of the depth of his struggles.
