Iran Claims Carrier Strike as U.S. Pushes Back

Iranian officials and state-affiliated media asserted that Iranian forces successfully targeted a U.S. aircraft carrier during the recent conflict. U.S. military officials, however, strongly rejected the claim, stating that no American aircraft carrier was struck and that the vessels involved remain fully operational.

The conflicting accounts have quickly become the focus of international media coverage, highlighting the challenges of verifying information during periods of military confrontation.

Conflicting Accounts

According to Iranian statements, missiles were launched toward a U.S. carrier operating in the region, with officials portraying the action as a significant military achievement.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) disputed those claims, describing them as false and stating that the missiles did not strike any American aircraft carrier. CENTCOM maintained that U.S. naval operations continued without interruption.

At the same time, U.S. officials said American forces had instead struck Iran’s drone carrier, the IRIS Shahid Bagheri, during military operations.
