In many demonstrations, two transparent containers are used to represent lungs. One is exposed to cigarette smoke, while the other is exposed to vapor from an e-cigarette. Over time, the differences become clear. The container exposed to cigarette smoke quickly fills with thick, dark residue. This buildup represents tar and harmful chemicals that accumulate in real lungs, leading to diseases such as lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
