At first, it seemed like nothing more than a routine appointment.
A Normal Saturday
For 38-year-old Melissa Carter, Saturdays were usually predictable.
She spent the morning running errands before taking her eight-year-old daughter, Lily, to a local salon for a trim.
She enjoyed chatting with stylists, flipping through magazines, and choosing colorful hair accessories after every appointment.
Nothing about that particular Saturday seemed unusual.
The Unexpected Comment
As Lily sat in the chair, the stylist smiled.
Melissa looked up immediately.
The stylist appeared confused.
“Oh, I thought everyone knew. A woman named Emma comes here all the time. She looks exactly like Lily.”
Her daughter didn’t have an Aunt Emma.
At least, not that she knew of.
A Growing Curiosity
Melissa couldn’t.
The same eye color.
The same smile.
Even the same small dimple that appeared when Lily laughed.
The similarities felt too specific to ignore.
When they got home, Melissa found herself thinking about the conversation repeatedly.
Who was Emma?
And why would a stranger resemble her daughter so closely?
