She’s Been Frozen Since 2020, Thawed for a Week, and Baked for 45 Minutes

In every freezer, there’s at least one mystery item—something wrapped in foil, double-bagged, or tucked just far enough behind the ice packs that it quietly becomes part of the household fossils. Most of us ignore it, toss it, or pretend the freezer doesn’t have corners. But in my case, that forgotten treasure resurfaced in the most surprising way.

“She’s been frozen since 2020,” I said out loud, holding the object with equal parts disbelief and curiosity.
Wrapped tightly and labeled in fading permanent marker was Grandma’s homemade casserole, the one we swore we’d save for “a special occasion.”

Turns out, that special occasion arrived four years late.
