Apple Pie Egg Rolls
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably found yourself longingly reminiscing about those gloriously deep-fried apple pies from the Golden Arches’ days of yore. You know, back when fast food indulgences were blissfully free of shame or nutrition labels?
These heavenly handhelds combine the best of all worlds – warm, crispy egg roll wrappers overflowing with a luscious, cinnamon-spiced apple pie filling that’s an absolute dead ringer for the real deal. One bite instantly transports you to apple pie nirvana.
The magic starts with a simple but stellar filling of fresh diced apples tossed with just the right touches of sugar, flour, cinnamon and a bright squeeze of lemon juice. While you could take a shortcut with canned filling, the real scratch-made stuff creates the most delicate, robustly spiced interior.
Once your filling is prepped, it’s time for the main event – the wrapping and frying extravaganza! Spoon a couple tablespoons of that apple pie goodness into the center of each egg roll wrapper. Then simply fold, tuck, roll and seal each bundle up cozily with a dab of water.
From there, it’s into the fryer, sizzling oil or a skillet with just enough vegetable oil to give the rolls a nice crispy fry on both sides. In just a few minutes, you’ll have portable little packages of hot, crispy, apple pie bliss.
While entirely addictive fresh from the fryer, these apple pie egg rolls are also endlessly snackable once cool. Pack them up for picnics, outdoor movies, tailgates – anywhere you need a nostalgic, handheld, pastry-wrapped dose of pure apple pie nirvana.
