Ingredients:
For the Pie Base:
4-5 apples (800-900 grams), peeled, cored, and sliced
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Directions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and milk. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. Melt the butter and mix it in. If using, add the lemon zest and mix well.
Prepare the Apples: Toss the apple slices with the lemon juice to prevent browning.
Assemble the Pie: Pour the batter into a greased 18 cm (7-inch) pie dish. Arrange the apple slices on top of the batter.
Bake the Pie: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm or at room temperature.
Serving Suggestions:
Ensure the batter is well-mixed but don’t overwork it to keep it light and fluffy.
