A Sudden Turn and a Silent Path

Military radar later revealed that MH370 had made a dramatic turn back across the Malay Peninsula, deviating sharply from its planned route.

Even more puzzling, satellite data from Inmarsat suggested the plane continued flying for several hours after disappearing, eventually heading deep into the southern Indian Ocean.

This data created two possible corridors—north and south—but evidence eventually pointed strongly toward the southern route.
