It began simply. An image, a sound, an object—depending on who tells the story—surfaced online. At first glance, it seemed familiar. People were convinced they had seen it before. Someone claimed it was from a childhood memory. Another insisted it came from a specific country or decade. Confidence spread quickly, as it often does online.
