One day, a new inmate arrived. As he settled in, he noticed the strange pattern.

Numbers. Laughter. More numbers.

Confused, he finally asked someone what was going on.

“It’s simple,” one of the inmates explained. “We’ve heard all the jokes so many times that we just numbered them. Saves time.”

The new guy nodded, intrigued—and eager to fit in.
