Is It Safe to Use a Microwave That’s Peeling?
A microwave with a damaged interior isn’t automatically dangerous, but it does have some risks:
- Metal Exposure: If the enamel peels away and exposes bare metal, sparks or arcing could occur during use.
- Contamination: Loose flakes of enamel could mix with food, which is unsafe to ingest.
- Reduced Efficiency: Damaged interiors can affect how evenly your microwave heats food.
For these reasons, most experts recommend repairing or replacing a microwave with extensive peeling.
