How Do You Prepare Them?

The good news is that edamame are incredibly easy to prepare. Most people cook them in one of three simple ways:

Boiling:
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pods for about 4–5 minutes until tender.

Steaming:
Place the pods in a steamer basket over boiling water for roughly 5 minutes.

Pan sautéing:
Some people briefly sauté them with garlic, chili flakes, or sesame oil for extra flavor.

After cooking, they are usually sprinkled with a little salt.
