5 Exercises That Could Harm You in Old Age

As the body ages, bones become more fragile, muscles lose elasticity, and recovery takes longer. That means certain high-impact or poorly executed movements can do more harm than good. Here are five exercises that may be risky in older age—and why they should be approached with caution.

1. Deep Squats with Heavy Weights

Squats are excellent for building lower-body strength, but deep squats combined with heavy weights can put significant pressure on the knees and hips. Aging joints may not tolerate this stress well, increasing the risk of cartilage damage or joint pain. A safer approach is to perform shallow squats or use body weight only.
