Parenting often involves guiding children toward fitting in, succeeding, meeting expectations.

But sometimes, the greater lesson is learning from them.

That day, my son reminded me that courage doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it simply shows up — bright, visible, and unashamed of its purpose.

The puffy red gown didn’t disrupt the ceremony.

It expanded it.

And as the applause echoed through the auditorium, I realized the room hadn’t fallen silent because of embarrassment.

It had fallen silent because something unexpected — and deeply human — had entered the space.

And then, it chose to celebrate it.
