🧠 A Normal Reflex of Your Digestive System
Most often, needing to poop soon after eating is caused by something called the gastrocolic reflex. This is a normal reflex in the digestive system: when food enters your stomach, your body sends a signal down the line to your colon to make space for the new food by moving out the old waste. It’s part of how your gut keeps things flowing smoothly. In many people this reflex kicks in within minutes to an hour of eating, especially after a large meal.
