Perfecting Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Step 2: Prepare the Dry Ingredients
In a separate container, combine the flour, salt, and remaining sugar. Mix well. Transfer the dry mixture onto a clean surface, forming a small mound. Create a well in the center of the mound and add the egg and butter. Gradually incorporate these ingredients using your hands until the mixture is well integrated.
Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Once the butter, egg, and flour are well mixed, gradually add the milk and yeast mixture. The mixture should appear thick and foamy. The key to a perfect dough is thorough kneading. Initially, the dough will be sticky. Continue to knead, adding flour incrementally until the dough no longer sticks to your hands.
Step 4: Roll and Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, transfer it to a flat surface and roll it out to a thickness of 1 cm. Trim the edges to form a rectangle. Brush the surface with melted butter, then evenly sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Roll the dough tightly, then cut it into pieces approximately 1.5 cm thick. Arrange the pieces on a tray lined with wax paper and allow them to rest for a short period.
Step 5: Bake the Cinnamon Rolls
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Place the tray in the oven and bake for 5 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Turn the rolls over and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Note that baking times may vary depending on your oven and the quantity of rolls, so it’s advisable to monitor the baking process closely.
